When your walls come down

Last weekend was fruitful.
The entire old construction came crashing down thus staying with the time plan.
The mission for the weekend was to strip and clear out the site.

Wielding the tools of the day
Thick floor boards nailed with zillions of 3-5 inch nails made up for a good overall exercise. Though a while into the exercise I lost patience and brought out "Charlie".
Few things are as satisfactory as letting ye ol' chainsaw Charlie sink his teeth into an old construction.

Chainsaw Charlie in action
A gentle touch with the sledge hammer was enough to persuade the wall boards to let go.
Similarly the roof required very little persuasion to come down.
Empty shell
Once all the rubble was cleared out a completely new view was opened up.
It's gone...
All well so far, the aim for next week is to measure out and lay the foundation.

Concluded negotiations

After almost 11 years of negotiations with my wife that makes the Israel/Palestine conflict seem easily solvable we have finally landed an agreement.

I get to build my sauna.

Any one Finnish will understand what I talk about. Sauna is in the heart of the Finnish soul, but since I live in Sweden there is virtually zero understanding of the semi religious rituals associated with the sauna.

The agreement my wife and I came up with allows me to build a sauna on our backyard (not in the house as I originally intended). As a part of the deal I'll next year have to build something that she wants, but I'll get back to that later.

I'll dedicate this blog to the upcoming sauna project where I'll document the progress.

So the plan is to tear down the old storage building/shed adjacent to the garage.
One reason is the fact that the building is in somewhat poor shape.

The plan is to transform this

Into this..:)

Well someone might ask where on earth will I then keep my stuff.
Planning is key...:)
During the summer I already built a new combined bike/storage shed like so:

The building including stove are ordered and I today got a delivery date, w45.
So until that date I'll tear down the old building and prepare the ground work.
